Analyst says iPhone 8 will ditch Touch ID, feature 3D laser scanner for facial recognition instead

2017 is a busy and important year for Apple, as the company is celebrating the iPhone’s 10th anniversary. Come September, we may see no less than 3 new iPhone models, possibly named iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, and iPhone 7s Plus.

While the 7s and 7s Plus are direct successors to last year’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone 8 is expected to be the star of the bunch. We already heard a lot of interesting things about the iPhone 8, including the fact that it should feature a curved 5.8-inch OLED display and an “all glass” design. According to JPMorgan analyst Rod Hall, another notable feature of the iPhone 8 will be a 3D laser scanner for facial recognition.
