The Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact are getting updated with a beta version of the Marshmallow update with software version 23.5.A.1.238. This includes a feature called Charging optimization better known as “soft charging.” With this feature enabled, the battery charges up to less than 100% when you plug in.
Studies have found that you can increase the number of years that a battery can hold its charge, by not letting it fully recover to 100% each time you plug in.
