Lawmakers will hear intelligence officials, security experts and researchers make their cases this week in considering whether law enforcement should have special access to smartphone communications.
In separate panels, Apple Inc. AAPL, -2.16% and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials, joined by independent experts, will face off in a House of Representatives hearing. The hearing comes about a month after Apple and the FBI last argued over whether smartphone security should be weakened so officers can more easily investigate criminal activity.
