Google+ was never exactly a runaway success, and in October last year the tech giant announced it would be closing this August following the discovery of a bug in one of its People APIs that exposed private user data to third-party developers.
Things went from bad to worse in December, when yet another data leak, this one affecting 52.5 million people, came to light. As a result, Google decided to expedite the shutdown, bringing it forward to April.
