Google wins legal fight against StreetMap over abusing search traffic claims

For many people, Google Maps is the first-stop when it comes to pinpointing places and getting directions, but.

Now one of the first mapping services to appear online has lost a High Court action where it accused Google of abusing its ‘dominant position’ in the online search market by ‘driving traffic’ from rivals to its own Google Maps service.

StreetMap said the introduction of a new ‘big map’ service by Google in 2007 was followed by a ‘dramatic loss of traffic’ to its website and has vowed it carry on its legal fight.
