Amid rumors that it will be introducing a foldable smartphone in the third quarter this year, Samsung has filed a patent application with the USPTO for an “electronic device with flexible display.” While Samsung has received other patents for foldable or flexible displays, this one uses a hinge to help the device unfold. The application was filed by Samsung on June 9, 2015 under the patent number US 9,557,771 B2.
Not much is known about the foldable devices that Samsung and LG are planning to introduce in the third quarter of this year.
