The most anticipated feature of Apple’s iPhone 8 is the replacement of the Home button with bio-recognition hardware – but how it will be done has been a mystery.
Now, the Cupertino company has received a new patent that describes a sensors made of acoustic transducers that sit under the display or inside the device’s casing.
A sensing mode would detect ‘reflections, attenuations, or diffractions in the sound waves caused by the user’s fingerprint’, which in turn will grant access to the device.
