Sony today announced that it’s officially launching the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact in the US.
The handsets will be sold unlocked starting February 7 via Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H. As you’d expect, the Xperia Z5 Compact will be the cheapest among the two devices, being priced at $499.99. The larger Xperia Z5 will cost $100 more: $599.99. It looks like no US carrier is planning to release the smartphones. In any case, they will work on AT&T and T-Mobile (LTE networks included), but not on Verizon and Sprint.
Of course, you can already buy both Xperias in the US (see here and here), but the units that are currently available are international variants, and don’t come with US warranty. Thus, if you want any of them, it’s better to wait until February 7 to get the US versions.
